Redmond

Redmond is located in King County, east of Seattle and Kirkland. It lies along Highway 202 at the north end of Lake Sammamish.

Salmon were so abundant in the Sammamish River, that, when settler's arrived in 1871, they called the settlement Salmonberg.

Logging and agriculture became the town's economic mainstays. The essential structures that constitute a town, as well as historic Red Brick Road, were constructed by 1890. Redmond became the area's trading hub and was incorporated in 1912.

Today the economy of Redmond, population 43,310, is based on electronics and light industry. The town is the headquarters of Microsoft and Nintendo. Points of interest are Marymoor Park, home of the Marymoor Museum and archeaological excavations; and preserved sections of the old brick highway.

Redmond is part of the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA metro area.
