Issaquah

The Seattle Pacific and Lakeshore Railroad's extension to nearby Squak Mountain in the late 1800's triggered a major coal mining boom and the settlement of the community of Gilman. The town's name was changed to Issaquah, a Dawamish Indian Word for "snake," in 1899. Issaquah is located on the southern shores of Lake Sammamish and lies near Interstate 90 in eastern King County.

Issaquah is part of the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA metro area.
