Enumclaw

"Thundering mountain" or "loud rattling noise," is the name supposedly given by Duwamish Indians to nearby Mt. Enumclaw. The town, established in 1885, was named for the mountain.

The pastureland surrounding Enumclaw is a noted horse-raising area, producing more than 20 breeds, including Thouroughbreds, Morgans, paso finos and paints.

Enumclaw is the "Gateway to Mount Rainier." The town is known for its low crime rate, good schools, and hight public safety standards. The annual King County Fair in Enumclaw is the oldest fair west of the Mississippi.

Enumclaw is part of the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA metro area.
