Woodstock

Woodstock is located in Windsor County, of which it is the seat, 16 miles northwest of Windsor along Highway 4 near Quechee Gorge State Park.

A resort and residential community, Woodstock is noted for its well-preserved old houses and charming village green. Five local church bells were cast in Boston by either Paul Revere or a member of his family.

On scenic US 4, three covered bridges span the Ottauquechee River. Interesting places in Woodstock include Billings Farm and Museum, and Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Nat'l. Hist. - Vermont's first national park.

Although it is most famous for skiing, Woodstock also offers summer recreation, including water sports, golf, tennis, riding and hiking. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 979, a decrease of 58 since 1990.
