Springfield

Springfield is located in Windsor County, 19 miles north of Bellows Falls off Interstate 91 along Highway 106 on the banks of the Black River near Wilgus State Park. An information center is in the restored 18th century one-room Eureka Schoolhouse on Highway 11.

Springfield is known for inventiveness and industry. Springfield inventors have created many common items used today, including the spring clothes pin, steam shovel, mop wringer, hay cutters, flat turret lathe, and sheep shearing machine.

Springfield offers a public swimming pool, 18-hole golf course, movie theater, and many parks for picnicking and hiking. Ski areas are within a short distance.
