South Burlington

South Burlington (pop. 15,814 ) is located in Chittenden County. Two major state highways enter South Burlington, US 7 from the south and US 2 from the east.

In 1864, the Vermont Legislature incorporated the City of Burlington, comprising about 10,000 acres, out of the village of Burlington. At the same time, the remainder of the original village was designated South Burlington, which was incorporated as Vermont's newest city in 1971.

South Burlington is the home of the famous Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Tours of the factory are available.

South Burlington is part of the Burlington, Vermont metro area.
