Northern Region

The Northern area of South Carolina consists of two of the state's official tourism regions -- the Olde English District, and Capital City Lake Murray Country. The Olde English District is located between Charlotte North Carolina and Columbia South Carolina. Here, history buffs can visit Revolutionary and Civil War battle sites, historic monuments, and historic homes. Visitors can also enjoy campgrounds and such state parks as Union's Rose Hill Plantation, and Lancaster's Andrew Jackson State Park.

Lake Murray - Columbia, SC, named for William S. Murray, is a vast area of water covering 78 square miles and approximately 50,000 acres of land. It is 41 miles long and 14 miles wide. Columbia, South Carolina's capitol city, boasts many attractions. These include Robert Mills Historic House and Park, designed by Robert Mills (the architect of the Washington Monument) and Woodrow Wilson's Boyhood Home.
