Charlottetown

The City of Charlottetown is located on the south shore of Prince Edward Island. It is bordered by the North River to the west, the Hillsborough River to the west and the Charlottetown Harbour to the south. Charlottetown has a population of 32,531 and covers a land area of 42.6 sq km. Charlottetown is capital city of Prince Edward Island, and is called "Canada's Birthplace" after the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference which led to Confederation. Charlottetown is rich in history and culture, and is the home of the University of Prince Edward Island. The City was incorporated in 1995 after the amalgamation of adjoining communities. Charlottetown is located within a 60 minute drive of all major points of access to and from the Island.
