Sunriver

Sunriver is a privately planned residential community located 18 miles south of Bend along Highway 97, at the base of the Cascade Mountains. This community is also situated along the banks of the beautiful Deschutes River, within the Deschutes National Forest and just west of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Sunriver has been carefully developed into clusters of small villages, each with their own flavor and convenience.

The city of Sunriver was created in 1965 as the joint inspiration of a developer and an Oregon attorney. The first home site was sold in 1968. This location was originally the former World War II Camp Abbott.

Popular Outdoor Activities include: Bicycling (30 miles of paved paths), Canoe - Kayak - Raft, golf, skiing Mount Bachelor, fly fishing, tennis (31 courts), Ice Skating/Miniature Golf, swimming (Sunriver offers two giant swimming pools) and hiking.
