This community is located in Douglas County between Florence and Winchester Bay on US Highway 101. Reedsport also is situated west of Interstate 5 along Hwy 38. Reedsport sits along the banks of the Umpqua River, at a point where the Smith River and Schofield Creek empty into the Umpqua.

Just east of town on Hwy 38 is the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area. A permanent herd enjoys formal protection on more than 1,000 acres of pasture and wooded lands.

The Umpqua Discovery Center in Reedsport is located on the scenic Umpqua riverfront. There, one can learn how the water, land, and people shaped and changed each other.

Summer months offer numerous festivals and events to choose from, including native Indian gatherings (Tsilala) and the rugged-artist chainsaw carving competition for everyone to enjoy.
