Pacific City

Pacific City is located in Tillamook County, 20 miles north of Lincoln City, between Neskowin and Hebo at the mouth of the Nestucca River. This community also is west of Highway 101 overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the Three Capes Scenic Loop.

Here one will find beautiful beaches in the shadow of Cape Kiwanda State Park, capped by the southern Haystack Rock just off shore.

Centuries ago, there was a large Indian village at the mouth of the Big Nestucca River, as indicated by numerous Indian mounds and artifacts found in that area. Chief Kiwanda was their most famous leader, hence the name Cape Kiwanda.

Commercial and sport fishermen brave the surf to the open sea to fish for cod and bottom fish. It's still part of the rich fishing tradition in Pacific City. The years of quick profits for dory fishermen have disappeared, but there are still a few who launch their dories from the Cape and bring back fish.

Local attractions include: Pelican Pub and Brewery, Cape Kiwanda State Park, and two golf courses.
