Florence

Florence is situated on the Oregon Coast on Highway 101 about 60 miles west of Eugene via Highway 126. Natural highlights include freshwater lakes, sand dunes, and beaches that constitute Jessie Honeyman Memorial State Park just south of town.

Each May, Florence celebrates the Rhododendron Festival. The 100th anniversary of the veneable parade is in 2007. Florence also is the home of two well-respected journals, Oregon Coast and Northwest Travel.

The district near the Siuslaw River waterfront is called Historic Old Town Florence and is popular with locals and visitors alike for its quaint restaurants, chic retail shops, and a romantic walk along the Boardwalk. Take a stroll - you may encounter the return of a commercial fishing boat with a fresh haul of Pacific salmon, halibut, or Dungeness crab, ready for sale to the general public. Another attraction is the newly established Three Rivers Casino.

Florentine Estates leads a bevy of gated communities scattered throughout the metro area. The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce has brochures describing hiking and other recreation activities in the area.
