Coos Bay

Coos Bay is located in Coos County, along U.S. Highway 101, between Reedsport and Bandon. The Coos River forms a bay, also called Coos Bay, which sometimes leads to confusion. Nearby North Bend is Coos Bay's sister city, which leads to the quaint fishing village of Charleston.

The busy port of Coos Bay was founded in 1854 by J.C. Tolman of the Coos Bay Company. The town, originally named Marshfield after Tolman's hometown in Massachusetts, was renamed by referendum in 1944.
