Beaverton

Beaverton is located in Washington County 7 miles West of Portland in the Tualatin Valley, near the Willamette River and the Columbia River. This community is part of the Portland-Vancouver, Oregon-WA metropolitan area.

Spurred on by a railroad into town (built in 1868), the small farming community began to grow. By 1893 the City of Beaverton was formally incorporated with a population of 400.

Beaverton offers top-rated golf courses, outdoor summer concerts, art galleries, museums, a fabulous farmers market, award-winning wineries, hot air ballooning, and plenty of fairs and festivals. Oregon Graduate Institute of Science & Technology is situated in town.

Beaverton also offers natural, historic and scenic views, waterskiing, camping, hiking and fishing. The community provides swimming pools, tennis courts, softball fields, and several golf courses.

The Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District provides 30 miles of hiking trails and a 25-mile bike path network throughout the Beaverton area.
