Wawa

The town is located on Lake Superior at the junction of Highways 101 and 17. Wawa is an Ojibway Indian word meaning `wild goose` because of the geese that rest on Wawa Lake during migration. The entrance to town is guided by a giant Canadian goose poised for flight.
