Broken Bow

Broken Bow is located in southeastern Oklahoma in McCurtain County along U.S. Highway 70/259 south of Broken Bow Lake and the Ouachita National Forest.

Recreational opportunities include 3,500-acre Beavers Bend State Park, Hochatown State Park, Pine Creek Lake and Little River National Wildlife Refuge.

Area attractions include 18-hole Cedar Creek Golf Course, Lakeview Lodge, the 26-mile David L. Boren Trail, the Forest Heritage Center, the Gardner Mansion & Museum (home of Choctaw chief Jefferson Gardner--c. 1880) and a 2,000-year-old bald cypress tree that marked the end of the Trail of Tears for the Choctaw.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 4,299, an increase of 338 since 1990.
