Salem

Salem, founded in 1896 by the Friends denomination (Quakers), is located in northeastern Ohio and straddles the Columbiana County/Mahoning County line 60 miles southeast of Cleveland and 15 miles southwest of Youngstown. As an anecdote, the city was the site of the first Women's Rights Convention in Ohio in 1850.

The city is home to several public golf courses--among them the Flying B Golf Course and Salem Hills Golf & Country Club who offer 18-hole facilities as well as Pine Meadows Golf Course and Buck Run Golf Course who provide 9-hole layouts. Salem Golf Club is a private 18-holer but has a guest policy allowing members of other clubs to play.
