Heartland Region

The Heartland Region of North Carolina, home of the state's capital Raleigh, is the most populated region of the state. While possessing one of the most dynamic economies in the U.S., the region also boasts an interesting history. Several Revolutionary War battlegrounds are here (Alamance County, Greensboro and Kings Mountain), and at Old Salem is a historic Moravian village re-created from the 1700's.

The region also boasts 100 golf courses, contributing to what some claim is North Carolina's reputation as the "Golf Capital of the World". Stock car racing buffs will enjoy visiting two of Winston Cup's famous tracks, Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord and North Carolina Motor Speedway at Rockingham.
