Gaston is located in Northampton County between Rocky Mount and Pleasant Hill along Hwy 48 near Roanoke Rapids, Weldon, Roanoke Rapids Lake, Lake Gaston, and the Roanoke River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,016, an increase of 13 since 1990.
