Tucumcari

Tucumcari is located in Quay County (of which it is the county seat), and in the Northeast New Mexico region. To locate Tucumcari, travel east of Albuquerque between Santa Rosa and the Texas state line along Interstate 40 near the Canadian River and the Conchas Reservoir.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 5,825, a decrease of 1,002 since 1990.

Tucumcari was once known as the Six Shooter Siding, a tent city for the railroad. Beginning in 1901, the town has become a thriving community with a growing need for further development, offering wonderful community spirit, and opportunities for business growth.
