Lake Ozark

Lake Ozark is located in Miller County. Lake Ozark is a popular resort area on an arm of the Big Dragon, as Lake of the Ozarks is often called. Fishing, boating, and swimming are excellent on the lake, which was formed in 1931 by the construction of the Bagnell Dam on the Osage River. The reservoir's 1,150 miles of irregular shoreline exceeds the length of the California coast. At the Osage Power Plant of Bagnell Dam, on Hwy 54 Business Route in Lakeside, free tours and an audiovisual presentation about the workings of the hydroelectric plant are available. Lake Ozark is located on Hwy 42, southwest of Jefferson City.
