Saginaw

Saginaw is in Saginaw County, and in the Central Region (and it is the county seat). It lies north of Flint between Flint and Bay City, along Interstate 75. The city also is on the banks of the Saginaw River near Saginaw Bay.

The City of Saginaw is the result of a consolidation of Saginaw and East Saginaw in 1890. The present charter was adopted in 1935.

Saginaw covers 17.6 square miles and the current population estimate is 61,799. In January, the average low temperature is 14 degrees and the high is 27. The July average low is 60 degrees and the high is 82. The average annual rainfall is 30 inches. Saginaw is a diversified community with a manufacturing base. Attractions include the Japanese Cultural Center and Tea House, a symbol of friendship and cultural exchange with Saginaw's sister city, Tokushima; Ojibway Island, a recreational area suitable for viewing July Fourth fireworks; and Old Saginaw City, a turn-of-the-century promenade.

Saginaw is part of the Saginaw-Bay City-Midland, Michigan metro area.
