Dearborn

Dearborn is in Wayne County, and in the Southeast Region. This town is located on the southwestern city limits of Detroit. It lies between Ann Arbor and Detroit along Interstate 94, near the Detroit River and Belleville Lake. The population estimate in 1998 was 91,691, an increase of 2,405 since 1990.

In the early 1830s the Dearborn area grew as a community when it became the site for the Detroit Arsenal. Henry Ford forged Dearborn's next era. In 1928 Dearborn united with Fordson, where Ford had built his Rouge plant in 1919. Within the city lies Fairlane, Ford's estate, which was presented to the University of Michigan in 1956.

Dearborn is built around the Ford Motor Company. The Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village are a leading attraction in Michigan, featuring Ford's birthplace and exhibits reflecting his vision. There are several other related attractions in the area. The city is noted for its nearly 150 receational facilities.

Dearborn is part of the Detroit, Michigan metro area.
