Northampton

Northampton is located in Hampshire County 20 miles N of Springfield between Holyoke and North Hatfield along Highway 10 off I91 near the Connecticut River. Settled in 1654, Northampton was an isolated frontier village for its first 150 years. Puritan theologian Jonathan Edwards and President Calvin Coolidge both lived in this city. Northampton's educational center is Smith college whose attractions include Lyman Plant House and Botanical Gardens. Northampton is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts metro area.
