In Garrett County, McHenry's nearby Deep Creek Lake is Maryland's largest freshwater lake (covering nearly 3,900 acres), and offers visitors boating, camping, fishing and swimming opportunities. Overlooking Deep Creek Lake is Wisp Ski Resort, featuring 14 miles of downhill ski trails. McHenry can be found in far western Maryland on US 219 south of I-68.
