Welcome to the Bonosearch page for Restaurant in Chesapeake City, Maryland, Restaurant, Maryland
Chesapeake City is located in Cecil County in northeast Maryland between Elkton and Chestertown on Hwy 213. Chesapeake City came into existence because of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, which links Delaware and Chesapeake Bays across the Delmarva Peninsula. Work on the canal began in 1803, but the waterway did not open for navigation until 1829. It allows oceangoing vessels serving Baltimore and other northern ports to avoid the 296 mile trip around the peninsula. Today, the canal is an avenue for pleasure craft traveling the inland waterway, the canal is the impetus for many of Chesapeake City's businesses. Chesapeake City is part of the Wilmington-Newark, Delaware-Maryland metro area.
