East Region

The Eastern Region of Kansas consists of two smaller areas, the Kansas City Area, and Heritage Hills. In the Kansas City Area one can enjoy such cosmopolitan attributes as fine dining, theater, concerts, museums, shopping, and professional sports. On the wooded banks of the Missouri lie quiet river towns.

The Heritage Hills were once covered by a glacier, which created a diverse landscape of vast prairie and treed river bluffs. The area caters to outdoor lovers, with 600 campsites, 30 miles of hiking and horseback trails, and many acres earmarked for backpacking and hunting. The Heritage Hills area is best known for its rich history, as seen in its fine museums, art, restored buildings and living history festivals.
