Kansas City

Located in Wyandotte County, (County Seat). East of Topeka along Interstate 70. Kansas City comprises one of two large cities of the same name, the other in Missouri; they are at the confluence of the Missouri River and Kansas River.

The area was the jumping-off point of many Western expeditions on the Santa Fe, California and Oregon trails that passed through Westport, later part of Kansas City.

A commercial, industrial, agricultural and cultural center, famous for jazz, barbecue and African American baseball Leagues.

Attractions include the historic 18th & Vine district, center of music, sport and high times; the National Agriculture Center and Hall of Fame, chartered by Congress to honor America's farmers; the Kansas City Renaissance Festival, which invites visitors to experience life during medieval times; and the Wyandotte County Fair, which draws 100,000 fair-goers annally.
