Urbana

Urbana is located in east central Illinois in Champaign County (of which it is the county seat) and is the sister city of Champaign. It lies along Interstate 74 west of the Salt Fork of the Vermilion River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 34,872, a decrease of 1,511 since 1990.

Champaing-Urbana is the host city for the University of Illinois. Its Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is internationally recognized and can be favorably compared to the Lincoln Center in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. In addition, the John Philip Sousa Library and Museum is nearby, as well. Souza is the famed marching band music composer.
