Oak Park

Oak Park is located in northeastern Illinois in central Cook County on the western city limits of Chicago along Interstate 290 east of the Des Plaines River. The population estimate for 2000 was about 52,000.

For those that seek a post-high school education, the city is home to West Suburban College of Nursing.

Oak Park was the boyhood home of noted American author Ernest Hemingway. It was also the residence and workplace of Frank Lloyd Wright, the renowned architect. He spent the first 20 years of his career here. Other well-known personalities that at one time or another called Oak Park home include Ray Kroc of "McDonald's" hamburgers fame and Edgar Rice Burroughs, creator of the fictional character "Tarzan".
