Southeast Region

Florida's Southeast Region makes such claims to fame as the fact that Palm Beach County has more golf courses than any other in the country. The region also boasts the only living coral reef in the continental U.S., contained within 178 nautical miles of reefs, seagrass beds and swamps, including John Pennekamp Coral Reef Park and Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

Other attractions include harness racing at Pompano Beach, beautifully landscaped gardens, magnificent mansions throughout the region, and cowboys and rodeos (adjacent to boutiques and upscale restaurants.) in the town of Davie.

Recreational activities abound at such places as the keys, the Florida Everglades, and at Lake Okeechobee, the second largest body of fresh water in the U.S., where fishermen enjoy excellent bass fishing.
