Kissimmee

Kissimmee is located in Osceola County just south of Orlando between Orlando and St Cloud along Highway 441 near Lake Tohopekaliga. Kissimmee is part of the Orlando, Florida metro area.

From the late 1800's into the turn of the century, the economy of the Kissimmee was strictly reliant on cattle and sugar cane. In the 1940's, the construction of the Kissimmee Airport by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was preparation for the inevitable U.S. involvement in World War II. These events led to Kissimmee's population increasing by another 38% to over 3700 citizens.

In addition to such international attractions such as Sea World, Universal Studios, and Disney World, the area boasts several corporate headquarters and is the home of the Houston Astros spring training facility.
