Bethel

Bethel is located in Fairfield County just southeast of Danbury between Ridgefield and Sandy Hook along Highway 302 near Putnam Memorial State Park. Taunton Pond is located just northeast. Bethel is part of the Danbury, Connecticut metro area.

Bethel meaning "House of God" comes from the bible. Originally part of the Danbury parish, the town seceded from Danbury and became the Town of Bethel in 1855. Not much early history of Bethel is found because in the Revolutionary War the British burned the city's records in April 1777.

Nearby attractions include: Collis P. Huntington State Park, Putnam Memorial State Park, Bogus Mountain, Wataba Lake, Scott Fantom Museum, and shopping in nearby historic Danbury.
