Ouray

The entire town of Ouray, Colorado is listed on the National Register of Historic Districts. The town is a year-round tourist destination.

Situated in the San Juan mountains of southwestern Colorado along the San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway, Ouray is about 80 miles north ofDurango and 35 miles south of Montrose.

Most of the town's permanent buildings were built between 1880-1890, and most are still standing; a historic walking tour shows visitors the town much as it appeared 100 years ago. Other unique features include Ouray's million-gallon natural hot springs, located beneath towering mountains. A man-made ice climbing park has been constructed in the Uncompahgre Gorge, and an outdoor ice rink offers additional recreation.
