Fort Collins

Fort Collins, population over 115,000, lies north of Denver on Highway 87. The city serves as the seat of Larimer County in northern Colorado and enjoys a scenic location on the Cache La Poudre River.

In 1864 the area was settled around a stockade erected to defend an important trading post; the city was named after its military commander.

The tourism and agriculture oriented region of the Front Range foothills that Fort Collins occupies has become home to many high-tech research firms and industries. The community is home to Colorado State University. Other points of interest include the Anheuser-Busch Brewery and Fort Collins Museum. Nearby recreation abounds at Horsetooth Reservoir, Lory State Park and several scenic drives. The community enjoys 300 days of sunlight a year.
