Half Moon Bay

Located on the San Francisco Peninsula, on the Pacific Ocean coast. This quaint coastal town is 17 miles south of San Francisco on US Hwy 1. Half Moon Bay is 11 miles west of San Mateo, Interstate US Hwy-280 and Interstate US Hwy 101. In spite of its proximity to highly urbanized areas, this town maintains it's quaint atmosphere due to its relative inaccessibility. There are only two; two-lane roads into town, both are narrow, winding mountain roads fraught with auto accidents, maintenance issues and traffic. In spite of all that, people flock to this area to enjoy the cooler coastal weather, broad ocean sand beaches and small town atmosphere.

Incorporated in 1959, Half Moon Bay offers a wide variety of public and private attractions. The historic downtown is home to numerous shops, art galleries, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and other businesses. Pedestrians, bikes and equestrians can access local beaches and parks. Golf can be enjoyed at two of California's finest courses. The City and coast side are home to numerous nurseries and farms. The Pumpkin Festival held in October draws hundreds of thousands of people to the coast to enjoy its panoramic vistas, fine cuisine, arts, crafts and genuine hospitality.

Half Moon Bay is located in San Mateo County south of San Francisco between Moss Beach and San Gregorio along Highway 1 west of San Mateo.

Half Moon Bay is part of the San Francisco, California metro area.
