Brea
Brea has been known since the beginning of its history for the tar that seeped out of the foothills. The chunks of tar were used for domestic uses and fuel. In 1898 the first oil well came in and started the oil boom in the Brea area. The city incorporated on February 23, 1917.
Brea is located in Greater Orange County just northeast of Fullerton and southeast of La Habra off Interstate 5. Brea is part of the Orange County, California metro area.
