Berkeley

Berkeley is best known as the home of the University of California Berkeley. It is also the base for sports fishing, centered on the Berkeley Marina. Berkeley is immediately north of Oakland on the east side of San Francisco Bay.

Berkeley is part of the Oakland, California metro area.

Received national attention for 1974 kidnapping of newspaper heiress Patty Hearst, who lived here with her boyfriend, Steven Weed.
