Amador City

Amador City is a charming gold mining town that is reminiscent of the Gold Rush Days! Amador City is located on Highway 49 in California's Gold Country, with authentic original buildings from mining days. These historic buildings now house unique shops, restaurants, and Bed & Breakfast Inns.

More than 20 Amador County wineries are a short drive away. The Sutter Gold Mine, with below ground tours, is only 1/4 mile away. Golf, wine tasting, boating, fishing, skiing at Kirkwood, horseback riding and carriage rides, live theater, hiking and gold panning are a few of the activities that residents and visitors can enjoy while in Amador City.

Amador City and County are named for Jose Maria Amador, a wealthy California rancher who mined along the creek in 1848.

Amador City is located just southeast of Sacramento between Placerville and Jackson along Highway 49 near the Camanche and Pardee reservoirs.
