Gold River
Carved out of the wilderness in the mid 1960's, Gold River offers an exciting urban environment in a spectacular wilderness setting. Whether you're looking for the comforts of civilization or the seclusion of a pristine natural paradise, Gold River has it all. The various walking trails in the area make accessible to the hiker splendid views of a remote natural paradise. A favorite is the Peppercorn Trail which winds along the Gold River for which the town was named. Locals invite you to become a "28'er" by traveling the full length (89k) of Hwy 28 from Campbell River to Gold River. This meandering highway offers some of the finest alpine scenery BC has to offer.
