Central Region

Within the Central Region of Arkansas can be found the Ozark and Ouachita mountains, southern timberlands, the eastern Delta and Arkansas River Valley.

Located on the banks of the Arkansas River, the Arkansas State Capitol, Little Rock, is the center of the state's largest metropolitan area, alive with arts and entertainment. Arkansas's history is preserved at the Historic Arkansas Museum, the Old State House Museum and the State Capitol. The arts flourish at the Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts, Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and the Arkansas Art Center.

Pinnacle Mountain State Park and Woolly Hollow State Park offer outdoor recreation. Fishing is famous on the Arkansas River, as well as Lake Conway and Lake Maumelle, where sailing is also popular. The Bell Slough Nature Trail near Conway offers wildlife viewing.
