Talkeetna

Talkeetna, an Indian word meaning "where the rivers join" is located in Matanuska-Susitna Borough at the junction of the Talkeetna and Susitna Rivers. Originally the site of a Tanaina Indian village, Talkeetna was established as a mining town and trading post in 1896. The town of Talkeetna was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Talkeetna is close to Denali National Park and Preserve and is the departure point for many climbing expeditions on Mount McKinley.
