Skagway

Skagway is located on the north end of the Lynn Canal 90 miles northwest of the capital Juneau. Skagway is the northern terminus of the Alaska Marine Highway southwest fery system and the southern terminus of Klondike Hwy.

Skagway is the oldest incorporated city in Alaska and grew incredibly during the Klondike Gold Rush. After the gold rush, Skagway might have become a ghost town if it weren't for the construction of White Pass & Yukon Route Railway in 1898. Today, Skagway is supported primarily by summer tourism. The Klondike Gold Rush Nat'l Historic Park is the main tourist attraction.
