Seldovia is located in Kenai Peninsula Borough. This small community on the southwestern Kenai Peninsula is connected to Homer by the Alaska Marine Highway Southwest ferry system.
The name Seldovia is derived from a Russian word meaning "herring bay". Historically, the village has developed around commercial fishing and fish processing.
